Amagansett, NY / 2022 / Ground Up
This family home began with a site wedged between the busy Montauk Highway and an expanse of quiet woodland for an owner who hoped for a six-bedroom, two-story home. The challenging site spurred an inventive formal solution: the house traces the length of the road that protects the site's tranquility while accommodating a generous program throughout the L-shaped layout. Between the road and the property line, a section of lush vegetation creates a thick wall of privacy from the main highway—adding a natural barrier that builds on the architectural one.
