Located on two acres in the heart of East Hampton’s horse country, this net-zero home is inspired by the area’s legacy of equestrian barns. The design subtly blends two architectural styles to echo the vernacular’s accretive nature. One is defined by a traditional gabled roof and rustic wood siding; the other, by an industrial metal shed structure. While aesthetically rooted in the area’s history, the home’s environmental design is emphatically forward-looking. It runs on net-zero energy powered by a large solar array, an extensive geothermal system, and strategic shading.
