Sag Harbor, New York / 2022 / Ground Up

The reimagination of this family home in Sag Harbor, New York, began with utilizing its existing bones—a sustainable starting point that shaped the entire design approach. After careful study of the structural composition, we reduced the interior division and improved circulation throughout the house. Opening up the plan created stronger horizontal connections and allowed the full length of the structure to be utilized The original sloped roofs have been replaced with pergola-like forms that open the interior to natural light. A series of shaded porches and carefully placed pathways dissolve the border between interior and exterior spaces, allowing the owner to inhabit a larger spectrum of environments throughout their daily life.
